Development and Production

Steven is a two time Emmy nominated writer, producer and entertainment executive. He serves as Co-Executive Producer for City Walk on KCET/Link, now in its second season.

As Vice President Creative Affairs for the indie film pioneer IRS Media, he oversaw the development and production of over a dozen features including the critically acclaimed One False Move, written by and starring Billy Bob Thornton, directed by Carl Franklin; Cannes Film Festival selection, The Music of Chance, based on the novel by Paul Auster, directed by Philip Haas; and Shakes the Clown, written and directed by Bobcat Goldthwait, aptly described as “the Citizen Kane of alcoholic clown movies.”

Steven produced the sci-fi cult films Circuitry Man and Plughead Rewired as well as indie features Amnesia and Small Time – winner of the Audience Choice Award at the Santa Barbara Film Festival. He then joined the award winning team at Wild Films where he developed, wrote and produced the daily pre-school series The Fox Cubhouse for Fox Kids Network.

He worked for several years at National Geographic Television as a writer, researcher and associate producer where he was nominated for an Emmy for his work on the NBC special – Avalanche: The White Death!

His non-fiction writing and producing credits include: Finding the Next Earth, Wolves: A Legend Returns to Yellowstone and the Emmy-nominated Alien Earths for National Geographic, Valley of the T-Rex for Discovery, Alive From Pop!Tech for American Public Television, George and Martha Washington: A 40 Year Romance for George Washington’s Mt. Vernon Estate and The Liberty Bell which screens every day at Independence Hall in Philadelphia.

His work for NOVA on PBS includes: Killer Subs in Pearl Harbor, Secrets Beneath the Ice, a documentary about the fate of Antarctica in a warming world and What Will the Future Be Like? for NOVA ScienceNOW.

Steven is a Communications Award Finalist of the Keck Futures Initiative sponsored by the National Academy of Sciences, Best Writing Finalist at the Jackson Hole Science Media Award, winner of the Chris Award and the National Educational Award for the Advancement of Learning Through Broadcasting.

Steven is a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and serves on the Board of Directors of Ocean View Farms Community Garden.
